Shi AnXuan and Saltanat's visit to YVC to treat their Laryngeal Papilloma through Medical Charity 2013 On April 2nd, Shi AnXuan, a 6-year-old Chinese boy, and Saltanat, a 17-year-old Kazakhstan girl, made a trip to Korea in order to treat their laryngeal papilloma as a part of 2013 Medical Korea Medical Charity event. Total 20 medical institutions and 39 international patients from 13 different countries participated in the major event of Medical Korea 2013, 'Korea Medical charity,' which is to provide voluntary medical treatment to patients overseas who cannot afford the treatment due to their poor financial condition. By offering free surgeries through this event, it is expected Korea could more actively promote its advanced medical technology to the world. Both of Shi AnXuan and Saltanat had Laryngeal Papilloma often described as warts on vocal folds. Larynx placed in the middle of our neck is involved in breathing, sound production and protecting the trachea against the food aspiration. Therefore, in case the laryngeal papilloma takes place on vocal folds, larynx cannot function well causing hoarse voice or shortness of breath. In the worst case, patients can permanently lose their voice. Due to this condition, Shi AnXuan and Saltanat have received several treatments in their country, however, they were still in need of next operation. In addition, as they heavily spent their money on continuous surgeries, they were in need of financial aid as well. In that, Yeson Voice Center offered them a free surgery through Korea Medical Charity Program. They had a good time with their family and two of the top Korean celebrities, Ji-won, Ha and Jung-ki, Song, during the dinner party held at Coex Intercontinental Hotel. Shi AnXuan and Saltanat were recovering well from their surgery and had learned the proper way of phonation before going back to their country on April 12th. YVC has been continuously participating in this medical charity since 2011 and have treated 8 child patients from China and Kazakhstan who have been suffering from their laryngeal diseases.
